Principal clarinet

Danré Strydom was recently appointed as principal clarinet player of the FSSO. Danre web

She was born in South Africa and started her music training in Windhoek, Namibia. After attending the Intelochen Arts Camp,USA, she continued her studied with Heinrich Armer at the University of the Free State. On completion of her Honors degree (cum laude) she received a scholarship to study at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music in Indiana, USA. Here she studied with the renowned clarinetists, Eli Eban and Eric Hoeprich. She also attended chamber music classes and master classes with Howard Klug and James Campbell. After receiving her solo diploma with highest achievement she completed a Masters degree (cum laude) under the guidance of Eddy Vanoosthuyse, principal clarinetist of the Brussels Philharmonic, in clarinet performance, and a second Masters degree (cum laude) in Bass clarinet with the principal bass clarinetist of the Belgian guides. She is currently completing her PhD in clarinet performance.

Danrè played part time for the Brussels Philharmonic from 2009 to 2013. She has also played with several other orchestras in the USA, Europe, South Africa and Namibia.
